Our kinship care consultants develop a range of practice notes, briefings and other resources to support our members in special guardianship, private fostering, kinship foster care and other care plans involving family members and friends. They also support the exchange of ideas and good practice at our practice forums.
Kinship Care Week 2024
Kinship Care Week (7 – 13 October 2024) is an opportunity to raise awareness about the amazing role that kinship carers play in children’s lives and society. There is increased national awareness following the welcome publication of the first-ever National Kinship Care Strategy in December 2023 but we still need to do more.
This year the theme is #ThisIsKinshipCare. CoramBAAF is supporting other organisations in the Kinship Care Alliance to help professionals, families and children understand what kinship care is.

Join us for an informative and interactive event exploring good practice in the early identification of prospective kinship carers. Many local authorities work hard to ensure kinship care is prioritised as a potential care plan for a child. But this relies on prospective kinship carers – both here and overseas – being identified early and supported to start the journey of potentially caring for a child and becoming a kinship carer.
